The poet who beautifully composed these short poems was Jane Hirschfield, a popularly recognized poet, born in the United States in 1953. She has published many collections of poetry and essays, has won many awards and is a renowned poet who is a scholar of the science of poetry.

While reading this poem, I thought that my own emotions have various shapes, just like changes in the weather. I think that the change in the weather here is both a source of my own emotions and is also influenced by external influences.

The poet asks, "Doesn't living things in nature have such feelings and weather?" She also asks trees and mountains.

My weather  By Jane Hirshfield

Wakeful, sleepy, hungry, anxious,
restless, stunned, relieved.

Does a tree also?
A mountain?

A cup holds
sugar, flour, three large rabbit-breaths of air.

I hold these.

I chose this picture of a lotus flower for the poem. This picture was taken on May 6, 2024, when I went to the park with an umbrella on a very rainy and windy day.

Raindrops fall into the pond and cause a stir, and the picture is taken to inform the weather of this day.

The lotus flowers bloomed a little early this year. The yellow and pink colors look so clean and clear, but raindrops were added to add freshness.

Now, I will attach the results of this poem transcription and the link to the transcription video.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog again today. 🙏🙏

Born in Illinois in 1878, Carl Sandburg worked in a poor family environment and was discharged from the army after serving in the American Spanish War and became a newspaper reporter. As a reporter, he wrote poems while participating in political movements and gained fame as a poet when his poetry collection became famous.

He was honest and bold about the city of Chicago and used slang in his poems. He also won the Pulitzer Prize twice, once for poetry and once for his book about Lincoln.

I love you for what you are

By Carl Sandburg

I love you for what you are, but I love you yet more for what you are going to be.

I love you not so much for your realities as for your ideals. I pray for your desires that they may be great, rather than for your satisfactions, which may be so hazardously little.

A satisfied flower is one whose petals are about to fall. The most beautiful rose is one hardly more than a bud wherein the pangs and ecstasies of desire are working for a larger and finer growth.

Not always shall you be what you are now. You are going forward toward something great. I am on the way with you and therefore I love you.

This beautiful poem was written in the form of a letter. It seems to be a message that contains advice and concerns from the father to his son. I also have a son who is taller than me now, so I sympathize with the content of this poem a lot.

Experiment04 scan

The reason why the two yellow tulips in the picture are arranged in this way is to capture the father's concern for his son. In fact, this picture has been cut in half and edited so that both tulips can be seen in detail.

Original Color

Original B&W

I edited it with the hope that both father and son will remain in their memories while living in this world.

Next, I will show you a picture that I transcribed.

I transcribed this poem and left it as a video.

The poet who wrote this poem was an Americanrn female poet and playwright. She even published a piece called Forest Trees in St. Nicholas magazine at the tender age of 14. She was also recognized as a poet enough to win a Pulitzer Prize and gained a lot of popularity among the public.

I think this poem conveys the leisure and warmth of the afternoon spent on a beautiful hill with clear skies and warm sunlight and a very good view of the village. Of course, I imagine a tall tree and numerous wild flowers spread out there.

I don't have any pictures that anyone else would want to go to. So I chose the picture below because I wanted to show you the scenery where wild flowers are gathered.

Original B&W

This photo was taken at Guri Hangang Civic Park in Guri, Gyeonggi-do on April 25, 2021. It's a picture taken in spring, and although it feels a little like autumn, I think the wildflower flower garden expressed in this poem will give this feeling.

Next, I would like you to appreciate the results of my transcription of this poem and the original text of the poem.

Afternoon on a Hill  By Edna St. Vincent Millay

Afternoon on a Hill

By Edna St. Vincent Millay

I will be the gladdest thing

  Under the sun!

I will touch a hundred flowers

  And not pick one.

I will look at cliffs and clouds

  With quiet eyes,

Watch the wind bow down the grass,

  And the grass rise.

And when lights begin to show

  Up from the town,

I will mark which must be mine,

  And then start down!

And I made a video of the process of transcribing this poem. You can watch it by clicking on the YouTube link below.

And I edited the picture above in the way of Experiment12.

Thank you so much for reading my page to the end.  🤗

There is a very famous Korean drama that just ended.

It is called Queen of Tears (눈물의 여왕).

I also enjoyed watching this drama very much. I think the technology of the drama production team that makes Korean drama characters come out very cool and pretty on the screen is amazing.

It is currently on Netflix and is also at the top of the list of non-English-speaking dramas worldwide. As the drama grew in popularity, the popularity of the tracks naturally increased.

The song "Love with all my heart" was sung by Korean singer Crush. It is also the main theme song of the drama. It is a luxury ballad that goes well with the heartbreaking melody and voice.

I only transcribed the lyrics of this song into the first verse.

미안해 미워해 사랑해  /  Crush

It's the same day

이렇게 너를 다시 불러보는

잊고 있던 마음들과

이제야 내미는

나의 미련한 진심들

늦어서 미안해

I wish I could  have told you that

I was born to love you

To love you with all my heart

널 향한 심장이 멈춰지지가 않아

Still want you all the time

아직 내 마음속 한켠의 방에

그리움으로 가득 채워

너를 기다려

Need you all the time

아무 말도 전하지 못해

시간속을 헤메이는

나를 미워해

And I filmed a video of writing this.

If you want to watch the music video of this song, you can watch the next video. The lyrics are interpreted in English, so if you watch the video, it will be helpful in many ways.

I chose yellow tulips for the photos that would fit the main theme song of this wonderful and beautiful drama.

Do you think this is a good picture for this poem? I'm very curious. 🧐

Also, I edited this photo using the experiment 23. Actually, I tried editing because the home printer didn't come out well, but it's pretty good. 😁

Thank you so much for watching my long writings and pictures so far. 🤗

This poem calmly expresses the beauty of May and expresses the artist's unique metaphor. If you read this poem, you feel like the poet is facing nature very closely, which reaches its peak in May. It is said that the beauty of May will soon disappear, but it will remain in place in the human mind.

Emily Dickinson left a lot of poems, and the atmosphere of those poems is mostly heavy and deep, but I think this poem is quite bright and represents the beauty of the season.

After reading this poem, I chose a picture that represents the beauty of a single tulip. This tulip has a very intense red color, so I chose it because I thought it could be connected to a red rose representing May.

Next, you can look at the original text of this poem and look at the picture I transcribed.

May-flower   By Emily Dickinson

Pink, small, and punctual,
Aromatic, low,
Covert in April,
Candid in May,

Dear to the moss,
Known by the knoll,
Next to the robin
In every human soul.

Bold little beauty,
Bedecked with thee,
Nature forswears
Antiquity.

May-flower   By Emily Dickinson

I made a video that transcribed this poem. I've compressed it into shorts on YouTube, so I appreciate it if you watch it a lot. The pen I used to transcribe this poem is Tombow's Playcolor 2 brown.

I went to my hometown in the country yesterday and today, and it rained a lot for three days. It was very windy like a typhoon in midsummer.

When I took the original photo of the red tulip you see up there, it didn't rain, but it looked like the tulip was turning its head towards someone, so I edited it in the way of Experiment 09 so that the object became a raindrop.

I hope the picture and those drops that look like raindrops go well together.

Thank you for reading my writing well so far. 🙏🙏

Wendell Berry is a very famous farmer.

This poet was born in Kentucky, U.S., and has published more than 40 volumes of poetry, novels, and essays while studying literature. He is also a wonderful person who even while teaching at the University of Kentucky, runs a very large farm.

He put the most importance on nature and agriculture, and he published a book criticizing the work that damages nature with the development of industrial civilization, and it has a profound influence on many intellectuals.

As I read this poem, I imagined a wildflower in a field with a very light wind. It looked good with light green grasses.

This photo was taken on Apr. 13, 2024 at the Deokso Sampae Park. Yellow tulips were blooming beautifully among wild grasses and wild flowers. So I thought it matched the scenery that the poem showed.

Actually, I wasn't in very good condition today, so I couldn't write very well. The pen on which I wrote this poem is Waterman's Hamisphere fountain pen.

I dream of a quiet man  By Wendell Berry

I dream of a quiet man

who explains nothing and defends

nothing, but only knows

where the rarest wildflowers

are blooming, and who goes,

and finds that he is smiling

not by his own will.

https://youtube.com/shorts/qKr068W6x9Q

While reading this poem and looking into the author, I learned about the website he runs.

Wendell Berry's home page

https://web.archive.org/web/20120806004156/http://www.wendellberrybooks.com/index.html

It mainly connects the introduction of the books he published with the seller, and there is also an introduction of the author.

The following is an edited photo of the above photos in Experiment04 method.

I tore the picture in a straight line because the grass is arranged in a straight line and the flowers are hidden behind it.

Thank you for reading until the end.  🙏🙏

Ezra Pound is a poet, writer, and composer who had a great influence on modern English and American poetry. His concise yet accurate poetry is said to have written many works that evoke concrete images rather than abstract ones.

It's a very short poem, but it's generating a lot of interpretation. Regardless of his or her intentions, a poet shows a person's intention to pursue noble love as a human being. However, it also shows a willingness to work hard not to get involved in a war.

These days, the war in Russia and Ukraine broke out first around the world, and recently, the war between Israel, Hamas and Iran is progressing again. Reading this poem gave me an opportunity to think about the war again. I think it will be difficult to get out of the proposition of immorality no matter what you choose.

It just felt harder to find the right picture for this very concise poem. It's just beginning to bloom here, so I don't have any pictures of the roses of the year yet.

After a lot of thought, I chose this picture.

Experiment09 B&W

Experiment09 Color

I think it's not enough to make use of the deep meaning of this poem, but I've tried to get a little closer to what this poem expresses by reversing the top and bottom of the black-and-white and color picture.

An Immorality

Sing we for love and idleness,
Naught else is worth the having.

Though I have been in many a land,
There is naught else in living.

And I would rather have my sweet,
Though rose-leaves die of grieving,

Than do high deeds in Hungary
To pass all men's believing.

The original photo was taken on Apr. 20, 2024 at Zhangjiah Lake Park in Guri City. It rained quite a bit the night before, so I could meet some moist flowers. While walking down the street like that, I met this guy who was lying on a flower bed.

When I saw this fallen tulip, I felt sad and sad. But the color of the flowers was still beautiful, and the small, bright green plants next to them were very harmonious and different.

The dictionary meaning of Alchemy is a science that was used in the Middle Ages with the goal of changing ordinary metals into gold. Or a power or process that changes or transforms something in a mysterious or impressive way.

I read this poem in a positive sense that in reality, I am living my days of pain, but after a time of growth, I will become a noble myself.

Even as I read it, this poem has a strong power and concise beauty.

Alchemy By Sara Teasdale

I transcribed this poem with Waterman Hemisphere fountain pen. I used black ink, and this time I also made a video of myself transcribing. You can watch this video by clicking the YouTube link below.
I compressed the time and uploaded it as a short video.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ce265vCO60g

The poem features a yellow daisy. Perhaps because alchemy is a magic that turns things into gold, the poet thinks that she chose the yellow golden daisy as her word.

As for Sarah Tizdale, who wrote this poem, I mentioned it once in my previous article, so please refer to it.

https://idea0404.blogspot.com/2024/04/spring-rain-by-sara-teasdale.html

So I also chose the picture of daisy flowers as the picture that goes well with this poem. I chose this picture because it was taken with a manual lens from Carl Zeiss and the daisy flower was expressed fantastically beautifully.

Fyodor Tyutchev was born in Moscow in 1803 and came from an aristocratic family, where he studied literature and began to write poetry under the influence of his tutor, C. E. Raich. He spent a long time as a diplomat in Munich, Germany, and later returned to Russia, where he died in 1873.

His poetry was so famous that he was praised by Russian literati. He was heavily influenced by German philosophy and romanticism, and worked on translating European classics into Russian.

This poem describes the sound of spring in simple, sweet words that bring it to life. It's in Russian, which is a completely different language from Korean, but the sounds are vibrant.

I transcribed this poem because it's beautifully worded, but also because it's short and easy to transcribe.

This time, I transcribed this poem with a pencil. In fact, while writing with a pen, I kept making mistakes and the handwriting didn't work well, so I transcribed it again with a pencil.  🤣😂

Transcribing into Russian is still difficult for me. 😥

I thought that a picture that combines the feeling of May, when spring is fully ripe, with snow-covered Russia would go well with this poem.

This photo was taken with my iPhone 14 Pro. I was out for a walk during my lunch break at work and I saw some willow seeds flying around and it looked like it was snowing, so I took a picture of them as they landed on the tiniest of wildflowers.

How do you think this poem goes well with the picture? 🧐

This time, I edited this picture in the way of Experiment04.

It was a bit interesting because the picture looked like it was taken with film.

Thank you for taking a closer look at my writing and pictures.  🙏🙏

* Experiment04 - Rip the paper

https://idea0404.blogspot.com/2024/02/experiment04-rip-paper.html

This poem is made into very concise words dealing with familiar materials that can always be seen around you. I can see the poet's intention to convey the beauty of his surroundings as they are throughout his life.

William Carlos Williams said he ate the plum in the icebox, ate it secretly, and wrote it because he felt sorry for his wife.

Coincidentally among his works, this short poem has become the most cited and famous poem among modern poems.

Here in Korea, too, I can eat delicious plums when very hot times come around early July. I already expect this year's plums to be delicious.

I'm a person who takes pictures of flowers very hard, but cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, apricot flowers, and plum flowers look so similar that I'm always confused.

The fruit that appears in this poem is plum, but I will post a picture of the apricot flower, which is a very similar and beautiful flower.

This Is Just To Say    By William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

This time, I transcribed this poem with Play Color 2, a water-based pen made by Japan's Tombow company.

I often transcribe English, Korean, and Russian with this pen, especially when fountain pen writing is not working well.

I've worked on the pictures above in the following way.

I also have NewJeans' album in my house. I have a couple of IU's albums, but it's my first time buying a girl group album. I'm also a fan of NewJeans, but my daughter is a big fan.

ETA

In this era, NewJeans is a very famous K-pop girl group that draws attention from all over the world. The group has been debuting for about two years, but every time they release a new song, they are so influential that they dominate the UK charts, as well as Spotify charts, Apple music charts, and Billboard charts.

NewJeans will release a single a few days later on April 27 and release a single the following month.

Min, the producer of the famous girl group, is called the mother of NewJeans. The agency of NewJeans is an affiliate of HYBE, a large agency that BTS belongs to.

The problem is that mom and dad have a fight over NewJeans, who is about to make a comeback. The fight between representative Min and HYBE began with a flood of newspaper articles saying that the New Jeans agency was trying to get out of HYBE. Currently, there is a fierce battle between the two in Korea.

NewJeans Get UP Album

There was a similar incident a few years ago. Do you remember the girl group called FIFTY FIFTY? This group is a South Korean girl group that stayed on the Billboard main chart for a long time with the song Cupid. However, due to the conflict between the members and the representative of the agency, it is almost dismantled. I think it was very unfortunate.

If you can't remember, listen to this song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc7_zRjH808

No one knows how the conclusion will be, but I'm a fan of New Jeans, and I pray that there will be no impact on NewJeans' music. I don't want to see this group looking anxious or atrophied. I'm waiting for NewJeans' music, and I hope their fight doesn't go any deeper. 🙏🙏
