Fyodor Tyutchev was born in Moscow in 1803 and came from an aristocratic family, where he studied literature and began to write poetry under the influence of his tutor, C. E. Raich. He spent a long time as a diplomat in Munich, Germany, and later returned to Russia, where he died in 1873.

His poetry was so famous that he was praised by Russian literati. He was heavily influenced by German philosophy and romanticism, and worked on translating European classics into Russian.

This poem describes the sound of spring in simple, sweet words that bring it to life. It's in Russian, which is a completely different language from Korean, but the sounds are vibrant.

I transcribed this poem because it's beautifully worded, but also because it's short and easy to transcribe.

This time, I transcribed this poem with a pencil. In fact, while writing with a pen, I kept making mistakes and the handwriting didn't work well, so I transcribed it again with a pencil.  🤣😂

Transcribing into Russian is still difficult for me. 😥

I thought that a picture that combines the feeling of May, when spring is fully ripe, with snow-covered Russia would go well with this poem.

This photo was taken with my iPhone 14 Pro. I was out for a walk during my lunch break at work and I saw some willow seeds flying around and it looked like it was snowing, so I took a picture of them as they landed on the tiniest of wildflowers.

How do you think this poem goes well with the picture? 🧐

This time, I edited this picture in the way of Experiment04.

It was a bit interesting because the picture looked like it was taken with film.

Thank you for taking a closer look at my writing and pictures.  🙏🙏

* Experiment04 - Rip the paper

https://idea0404.blogspot.com/2024/02/experiment04-rip-paper.html

This poem is made into very concise words dealing with familiar materials that can always be seen around you. I can see the poet's intention to convey the beauty of his surroundings as they are throughout his life.

William Carlos Williams said he ate the plum in the icebox, ate it secretly, and wrote it because he felt sorry for his wife.

Coincidentally among his works, this short poem has become the most cited and famous poem among modern poems.

Here in Korea, too, I can eat delicious plums when very hot times come around early July. I already expect this year's plums to be delicious.

I'm a person who takes pictures of flowers very hard, but cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, apricot flowers, and plum flowers look so similar that I'm always confused.

The fruit that appears in this poem is plum, but I will post a picture of the apricot flower, which is a very similar and beautiful flower.

This Is Just To Say    By William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

This time, I transcribed this poem with Play Color 2, a water-based pen made by Japan's Tombow company.

I often transcribe English, Korean, and Russian with this pen, especially when fountain pen writing is not working well.

I've worked on the pictures above in the following way.

Thank you for reading my post so far. I hope you have a good day. 🙏

I also have NewJeans' album in my house. I have a couple of IU's albums, but it's my first time buying a girl group album. I'm also a fan of NewJeans, but my daughter is a big fan.

ETA

In this era, NewJeans is a very famous K-pop girl group that draws attention from all over the world. The group has been debuting for about two years, but every time they release a new song, they are so influential that they dominate the UK charts, as well as Spotify charts, Apple music charts, and Billboard charts.

NewJeans will release a single a few days later on April 27 and release a single the following month.

Min, the producer of the famous girl group, is called the mother of NewJeans. The agency of NewJeans is an affiliate of HYBE, a large agency that BTS belongs to.

The problem is that mom and dad have a fight over NewJeans, who is about to make a comeback. The fight between representative Min and HYBE began with a flood of newspaper articles saying that the New Jeans agency was trying to get out of HYBE. Currently, there is a fierce battle between the two in Korea.

NewJeans Get UP Album

There was a similar incident a few years ago. Do you remember the girl group called FIFTY FIFTY? This group is a South Korean girl group that stayed on the Billboard main chart for a long time with the song Cupid. However, due to the conflict between the members and the representative of the agency, it is almost dismantled. I think it was very unfortunate.

If you can't remember, listen to this song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc7_zRjH808

No one knows how the conclusion will be, but I'm a fan of New Jeans, and I pray that there will be no impact on NewJeans' music. I don't want to see this group looking anxious or atrophied. I'm waiting for NewJeans' music, and I hope their fight doesn't go any deeper. 🙏🙏

The poet who wrote the poem was Erich Fried, a poet, writer, and translator who was born in Austria and later defected to Britain due to political problems.

At first, it was known to the public as a poem about politics, but later, it was said that he wrote a lot of poems about love.

The reason I found this poem is because I saw a poem called Durcheinander  by Eric Fried written by a friend named Eva Nick on VERO, but I couldn't find an English translation, so I found it while searching for this poet's poem.

Another reason for finding the poem is that a famous Korean poet named 류시화(Shiva Ryu) translated it into Korean.

This poem is a simple poem, but it mournfully expresses the emptiness and longing that the object of love has disappeared.

First, let's look at the German text on this poem.

Ohne dich

Nicht nichts
ohne dich
aber nicht dasselbe

Nicht nichts
ohne dich
aber vielleicht weniger

Nicht nichts
aber weniger
und weniger

Vielleicht nicht nichts
ohne dich
aber nicht mehr viel

Erich Fried

I tried to find a picture that fits this poem.

I don't know German cursive, so I tried to transcribe a poem translated into Korean. The translated poem into Korean is also so beautiful.

And I found the English translated text and transcribed it to English.

Without You

Not nothing
withdout you
but not the same

Not nothing

but perhaps less

Not nothing
but less
and less

perhaps not nothing
without you
but not much more

Next, let's look at the original picture that I matched with this poem.

If you look closely, you can only see a very faint image of another tulip behind the yellow tulip. I captured the picture by placing the image of the other person, who is now hard to see and whose memory is vague, to make it look faint.

This poem tells us how deeply meaningful and noble the word "Gratitude" is.

If it's hard to even bring up a word like this, I guess you've really gotten a lot of help from the other person.

When I read this poem, I thought that the object of Gratitude could be God or Mother Nature. This poem consists of very short lengths and I think each word has a very deep meaning.

I often transcribe these poems from Emily Dickinson. I think the depth of the words is also very concise and expresses the implications well.

Let's take a look at the poem first.

Gratitude—is not the mention   By Emily Dickinson

Gratitude—is not the mention

Of a Tenderness,

But its still appreciation

Out of Plumb of Speech.

When the Sea return no Answer

Proves it there’s no Sea, or rather

A remoter Bed?

From now on, I will look for pictures that match this poem.

The reason I chose this photo is nothing but to show how warm it is. I may have chosen it like this because I don't have a lot of warm pictures. 😅

This is a picture of a flower bed that I accidentally encountered while riding a bicycle along the road. I just happened to be passing by, but I couldn't let the warm energy go by.

I edited this photo using Experiment12 - single-line point method.

Experiment12 - single-line point

In fact, if you look at the picture, you may wonder why it was edited like this, but in Korea, when delivering flowers of thanks, we often wear a belt around a flowerpot and write a message of thanks and give it as a gift.

Today, I transcribed it with a Twisbi handwriting filled with blue ink.

I captured a video of myself writing it in my notebook, so take a look. 🙏

This time, I will first look at the picture I chose that goes well with this poem.

This poem In Time Of Silver Rain expresses the beauty of spring with the word very active silver rain.

Then, while imagining what a picture of a silver rain scene would look like, I found a picture that I thought was a little suitable.

In Time Of Silver Rain

I took this photo of a yellow tulip that has not yet bloomed. Flowers are beautiful even when they are in full bloom, but I prefer the way they looked before they just bloomed.

If you liked the picture above, let's meet a much more beautiful poem written in the title.

In Time Of Silver Rain

By Langston Hughes

In time of silver rain

The earth puts forth new life again,

Green grasses grow

And flowers lift their heads,

And over all the plain

The wonder spreads

  Of Life,

  Of Life,

  Of life!

In time of silver rain

The butterflies lift silken wings

To catch a rainbow cry,

And trees put forth new leaves to sing

In joy beneath the sky

As down the roadway

Passing boys and girls

Go singing, too,

In time of silver rain When spring

  And life

  Are new.

James Langston Hughes [1902-1967] is a black writer who was born and raised in the United States and later became a famous writer who graduated from Lincoln University. He began writing poetry when he was about 8 years old and absorbed black culture, leaving behind many poems and essays.

Now let's take a look at the original picture.

This photo was taken on April 13, 2024 at Sampae Park in South Korea. This year's flowers are not in good overall condition. It dried up quickly because it didn't rain enough in spring, so the shape is not beautiful. But I found flowers that were in their best condition and took pictures.

Jeong Ho-seung is a famous poet in South Korea. Born in 1950 and still active, he writes poems that are so beautiful that they are published in middle school and high school textbooks.

I translated this beautiful poem into English. Even though it's not an accurate translation, I tried to convey the meaning well.

Attach wind bells  /  Jeong Ho-seung

I met Woonjusa and Buddha

on my way back

at the end of the eaves of your heart

I came back with a wind bell

It's windy from far away

When I hear the wind bell

Think that my heart that I want to see you

has come to you

This is what the wind bell in this poem looks like.

In fact, when you go to a temple in Korea and hear this wind bell, it makes a very clear and deep sound. The sound is more beautiful when the wind blows moderately.

This poem is a calm expression of the poet's longing for an object he loves. I think the object can be a loved one or a beautiful landscape.

I matched the picture of the daffodils in this poem. The daffodils in my picture are not fully in full bloom yet, but I chose a picture that looks like a bell with its head down.

I always try to express the feelings of poetry and photography by connecting them, but I always worry a lot. 😅

Why did a very famous K pop girl group IVE sue a Cyber Wrecker?

First of all, the fundamental reason is that a YouTuber disgraced a K-pop girl group member by disparaging her appearance or making fake news about her.

The YouTuber earned advertising revenue by creating false news or spreading it about many popular stars and increasing their views with her YouTube account called "탈덕수용소".

The YouTube account is currently unavailable. The account was closed after a U.S. court in California ordered the YouTuber to be informed.

The article of the Korean English newspaper below explains more details.

https://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20240119000692

Since the development of the Internet, there have been people who produce malicious comments or false news, but these days in Korea, YouTubers have succeeded to gain popularity and become a means of making money, and the degree has become too severe.

So what does Cyber Wrecker mean?

Wrecker has the following dictionary meanings.

1. a truck that takes away cars that are damaged or not working, tow truck

2. someone or something that destroys something

3. used in combination

If there is a traffic accident on a highway here in Korea, the first vehicle that comes running is not a police car or emergency services, but this Wrecker. It's a tow truck for towing an accident vehicle. That's how fast this Wrecker means speed and influence.

Cyber Wrecker comes from criticizing YouTubers who get views and profit from issues in the online space here in Korea by organizing them quickly.

The company, which has been plagued by constant bullying, has filed a legal case against the YouTuber, and its member, Jang, has also filed a civil suit as an individual and recently won the case.

The YouTuber created and distributed false news about BTS's V and members of NewJeans, who are also preparing to sue.

In Korea, there is now a movement to create the right culture by responding directly to the wrong culture of such malicious fans and taking legal action.

Love and Friendship   By Emily Brontë

Love is like the wild rose-briar,
Friendship like the holly-tree—
The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms
But which will bloom most constantly?

The wild rose-briar is sweet in spring,
Its summer blossoms scent the air;
Yet wait till winter comes again
And who will call the wild-briar fair?

Then scorn the silly rose-wreath now
And deck thee with the holly’s sheen,
That when December blights thy brow
He still may leave thy garland green.

If you read this poem from beginning to end, the poet praises friendship as more lasting and strong than love.

Why did the poet come up with this idea?

I guess the poet might have experienced the expectation that intense, beautiful, and fragrant love would last forever and then disappear in an instant.

I also think love is so fragrant and goes well with alluring red roses. They also have thorns. They have frightening thorns that could leave a huge dent in the person they love.

The pen that transcribed this poem is Waterman Hemisphere.

I was looking for a picture that would fit this poem, but suddenly I saw a picture taken the day before yesterday. Originally, I tend to edit the picture first and find an edited version that fits the poem, but this time I tried to do the opposite. I read the poem first, selected the picture, and then edited it in Experiment02.

Roses have not bloomed here yet, so I chose very red tulips instead of red equipment. Although it is not the holly-tree expressed, I tried to replace the atmosphere with a spindle tree.

The picture looks a little darker than I thought, but the atmosphere seems to be well captured in one picture.

If you look at the original picture, you can see a picture with a brighter atmosphere.

It's not as bright as I thought, is it? 😅

* Description of Experiment02

https://youtube.com/shorts/BehFRwbNiY0?feature=share

Yun Dong-ju is an independence activist, poet, and writer who spent Korea's Japanese occupation. A famous collection of poems is titled 'Heaven, Wind, Stars, and Poems.'

He wrote poems based on criticism of Japan and the Japanese Government-General of Korea, and his poems by The Resistance Poet have been loved a lot in Korea. He also left behind many works in beautiful languages for self-reflection.

The poem I'm introducing this time is a poem titled 'The Cross', and I've tried to transcribe the Russian translation.

This Russian translation was taken from the translated poetry collection [Heaven, Wind, Stars, and Poems] published by Pushkinhouse Publishing in South Korea.

Let's look at the original Korean version together.

1941. 5. 31.

This poem written by Yun Dong-ju can be seen as a metaphorical expression of the self-sacrifice for the independence of Korea during the Japanese colonial period, comparing it to the self-sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

It was even harder to find pictures that matched this poem. So I chose a picture that emphasized the contrast.

Experiment04

Maybe because the printer at home is a little short of ink, the color is a little strange. Strangely, the atmosphere seems to go well with this poem.

William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet who was born in 1865 and died in 1939. While learning art as a child, he turned into a poet and wrote plays while running a theater. He was also interested in politics and participated in the Irish independence movement. In 1923, he became the first Irish writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. His poetry changed from feminine in the beginning to masculine and metallic in the later.

This poem, which I transcribed this time, is thought to be a reverse story of the poet's own life.

The coming of wisdom with time

By William Butler Yeats

Though leaves are many, the root is one;

Through all the lying days of my youth

I swayed my leaves and flowers in the sun;

Now I may wither into the truth.

The pen I used for this poem's transcription is Tombow's Playcolor 2.

It was kind of hard to find a picture that goes well with this poem.

There are still many photo contests held all over the world today. However, not many companies manufacture cameras from film cameras to digital cameras. I would like to introduce a photo contest held by camera manufacturers.

1. Leica Oskar Barnack Award (LOBA)

This photo contest is held by Leica, a very well-known camera brand. LOBA expects to host its 44th photo contest this year in 2024. There has been no notice of the contest yet, and 12 series were selected as official selections in last year's contest and final screening is underway.

The photo exhibition has shifted from a general contest to a recommendation contest recommended by experts starting in 2020. The Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award for those under 30 is also available with proposals submitted by international institutions and universities.

For this reason, it is very unfortunate that the support of little-known rookies has become virtually impossible.

https://www.leica-oskar-barnack-award.com/en/

2. Canon Photo Contest

Canon is a major camera manufacturer that competes for first and second place in camera sales worldwide. By the way, Canon is only conducting regional and irregular contests, not regular contests, so it's a bit of a shame.

CANON PHOTOMARATHON was a contest in East Asia, the last of which was in 2019 and the New Cosmos of Photography was a canon-funded photo exhibition in Japan since 1991, but it ended in 2021.

As far as I know, the Canon Redline Challenge held at Canon Europa N.V. was held last year and will be held this year as well. However, the application period is very short at 2023.08.19-09.16, and only one work can be supported, and other camera photos can be supported, so please make a note on the calendar if you are interested.

https://www.canon.co.uk/get-involved/redline-challenge/

Here in South Korea where I live, there is a contest for college students called the Future Writers Award. In 2022, Canon Korea received applications for a week in early November, and in 2023, They received applications for the third week of August. The schedule is so uncertain.

3. Nikon Photo Contest

The Nikon Photo Contest is largely divided into two areas. Let me introduce these two.

 3-1 Nikon Photo Contest International

Nikon Photo Contest International has been selecting excellent works from photographers from all over the world since 1969. Nikon has been conducting this contest since its days as a film camera and continues to switch to a digital camera.

Every year, each contest has its own theme, and there is a separate short film category.  When applying for this contest, it is important to note that it must be taken by an individual who is not disclosed in print media or the web, and that personal blogs or SNS posts can be posted. In the past, personal blogs and SNS-posted works were not supported, but they have changed.

Usually, other contests have a dedicated system for applications, but Nikon Contes is a little inconvenient because it has to fill out a separate document form and submit it by e-mail.

https://www.nikon-photocontest.com/en/

3-2 Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition

This photo contest is a bit of an unusual one. Because it's a contest that only covers optical micrographs. Normal macrophotography is not supportable. I think it's like a contest to support scientists.

And the contest is managed in New York, the U.S., and you can apply online. Each person can support three pieces of artwork. The application period is 2023.09.01-2024.04.30.

https://enter.nikonsmallworld.com

4. Sony World Photography Awards

Sony, a leading camera manufacturer, holds the largest photo contest every year. I've introduced it many times in my writing, so I'll replace it with that.

https://idea0404.blogspot.com/2024/03/world-best-top-4-photography.html

5. Fujifilm Photo Contest

Fujifilm, which manufactures cameras that I usually use, continues to hold photo contests suitable for each country. I'll show you some of them and have a simple link.

* URBAN Photo Awards - Italy

https://www.urbanphotoawards.com/it

* FUJIFILM MOMENT STREET PHOTO AWARDS - Częstochowa (Poland)

https://momentstreetphoto.pl

* GFX Challenge Program - Global

This program submits plans on how to use these products as proposals to promote GFX products, selects them, rents out actual camera systems, and shares the results. The process is conducted by dividing regions worldwide. Last year, the application period was 2023.08.14 - 2023.10.15. If selected, it is worth a try as it is a program that supports both prize money and exhibitions.

https://fujifilm-x.com/global/special/gfx-challenge-program

6. GR PHOTO FESTIVAL

The photo contest began in 2022 and has a slightly different propensity than other contests. There are no prizes or prize money, with 10 professional photographers selected as judges selecting three pictures each. Also, the submission period for last year's GR series is 2023. 10.02-12.24. Each person can apply for three works and there is no registration fee.

https://www.ricoh-imaging.com/kr/grphotofestival/2023/

7. Olympus Photo Contest

Image of the Year Award

This Olympus Photo Contest is a contest that only covers micrographs. This contest can be seen as similar to Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition. The deadline is just around the corner. Please refer to this year's application by April 30, 2024.

https://www.olympus-lifescience.com/en/landing/ioty-2024

8. Hasselblad Masters competition

This is a photo contest held by PHASEONE, which is famous for its medium-sized cameras and capture-one photo editing programs.

This is a photo contest that began in 2001 and can be supported in six categories and cannot support works that have been awarded in other contests.

" 2.7.7. Images that have been awarded in other photo competitions (e.g. Sony World Photography Awards, Nikon Photo Contest, IPA, Skypixel Photo Contest, World Press Photo Contest, Trierenberg Super Circuit) and previous Hasselblad Masters are not eligible for this competition. "

You can support three pieces in one category for free.

The last application period for the contest was 2023.12.12 - 2024.02.29.

Separately, 500px.com has received applications from the app itself. The finalist will be released on April 19th, so you'll be able to see it if you wait a little bit.

https://www.hasselblad.com/inspiration/masters/2023

So far, I've learned about photography contests held by companies that manufacture cameras around the world. I hope this has helped you a lot.
