This Is Just To Say By William Carlos Williams [ Photo with Poem / Experiment07 - Scanning like dry petals ]
This poem is made into very concise words dealing with familiar materials that can always be seen around you. I can see the poet's intention to convey the beauty of his surroundings as they are throughout his life.
William Carlos Williams said he ate the plum in the icebox, ate it secretly, and wrote it because he felt sorry for his wife.
Coincidentally among his works, this short poem has become the most cited and famous poem among modern poems.
Here in Korea, too, I can eat delicious plums when very hot times come around early July. I already expect this year's plums to be delicious.
I'm a person who takes pictures of flowers very hard, but cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, apricot flowers, and plum flowers look so similar that I'm always confused.
The fruit that appears in this poem is plum, but I will post a picture of the apricot flower, which is a very similar and beautiful flower.
This Is Just To Say By William Carlos Williams
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
This time, I transcribed this poem with Play Color 2, a water-based pen made by Japan's Tombow company.
I often transcribe English, Korean, and Russian with this pen, especially when fountain pen writing is not working well.
I've worked on the pictures above in the following way.
