Осипа Мандельштама was a writer and poet of the Russian Empire, who came from a Polish Jewish family. He studied literature and philosophy, and is said to have written symbolic poems throughout the revolution. As a result, he suffered a lot of cognitive and political persecution. Eventually, he suffered a second political persecution, and died in prison in 1938 at the age of 48.

As I read this poem, I can feel the love of my country and the desire to return to my hometown. I also try to heal myself from the unbearable pain of the present by recalling my past memories.

After reading this poem, I was choosing this photo while choosing a photo. I don't know exactly why, but I suspect it was a throwback to the past.


First of all, you can look at the poem in the original text and then look at the poem translated into Korean. I tried to transcribe each poem, even though it was not enough for me.

아이들 생각만 품을 것

모든 큰 것들은 멀리 날려 보낼 것

깊은 슬픔에서 다시 일어날 것


나 삶이 죽도록 피곤해

삶에서 아무것도 받아들이지 않으리

하나 내 궁핍한 땅을 사랑해

다른 땅은 겪은 적이 없었으니


나 먼 정원에서

소박한 나무 그네를 탔었지

흐려진 의식 속에 그때의

키큰 울창한 전나무들이 떠오른다
