I think most of the poems about spring rain carry warm and mild feelings, but the poems depict strong and rough spring storms. I guess the spring rain that she faced just as spring began was so intense that she wrote this poem.

Storms and lightning spring rains are a frequent occurrence in reality. First, let's look at the full text of poetry.

Spring Rain  /   Sara Teasdale

I thought I had forgotten,
But it all came back again
To-night with the first spring thunder
In a rush of rain.

I remembered a darkened doorway
Where we stood while the storm swept by,
Thunder gripping the earth
And lightning scrawled on the sky.

The passing motor busses swayed,
For the street was a river of rain,
Lashed into little golden waves
In the lamp light's stain.

With the wild spring rain and thunder
My heart was wild and gay;
Your eyes said more to me that night
Than your lips would ever say. . . .

I thought I had forgotten,
But it all came back again
To-night with the first spring thunder
In a rush of rain.

Sara Teasdale is an American lyric poet who won the Pulitzer Prize for her poetical work called Love Songs in 1918. Born in 1884, she survived until 1933, and published several poetry collections and many expressed nature, love, and death in lyrical languages.

I chose a picture of myself that would go well with this poem.

I wanted to capture a stormy image in a photo. I usually edit the photo first, then when I find a poem I like, I transcribe it and choose the one that matches it. I feel great when the picture and the feeling of the poem match very accurately. 🧐

This time, I transcribed this poem with a Waterman fountain pen.

Since the poem was a little long, I couldn't use it all in one sheet, so I divided it into two and transcribed it.

I worked on this photo in the editing method of Experiment 09. You can find out what process it goes through by going into my blog post.

Now, I'll show you the original picture. If you look at the original picture, you may feel a little bland. 😥

Next time, I will post with more different posts and pictures. Then I hope you have a good day. 🙏

Recently, it has become popular in Korea to eat cup noodles and leave photos on social media at Uiseoreum near the top of Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island.

However, there is so much leftover ramen soup that it is suffering from exceeding the allowable capacity of the food processor installed in Hallasan National Park, and eventually, the national park began a campaign to "라면 국물 남기지 않기 운동 (not leave ramen soup)."

One of the Uiseoreum of Jeju Island

In addition, the Hallasan National Park Management Office is campaigning to reduce the amount of soup itself by promoting "Half Soup base + Half Water" to reduce the amount of soup itself and to control the food waste left over in advance. These campaigns are related to the worldwide conservation movement.

Do you know about Leave No Trace?

Leave No Trace is a conservation movement by the LNT Center, a non-profit organization that started in 1994 in the United States. This conservation movement encourages humans to set and follow various guidelines to prevent damage to nature, especially when visiting mountains.

The seven principles of lnt are as follows. / Source: Wikipedia

1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
3. Dispose of Waste Properly
4. Leave What You Find
5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
6. Respect Wildlife
7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors

The LNT movement is widely known as the basic principle of mountaineers, but it has also been criticized by many environmentalists.

You can visit the following page to refer to the current activities of this organization.

https://lnt.org/

I think the most efficient way is to start this campaign where this trend began. In my opinion, it is to induce people to take a proof shot of eating ramen and not leaving any food waste at Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island and post it on social media. If famous celebrities or influencer participate, the effect will be better.

* Additional matters

Ramen is a very popular food here in Korea. The origin of instant ramen is chicken ramen made by Nissin Food, a Japanese company. The cup noodles I'm going to talk about today were also developed for the first time in Japan.

In Korea, Samyang Foods launched its first instant ramen, Samyang Ramen, in 1963, and its consumption has increased tremendously as it has become so popular worldwide.

This poem talks about the sadness of the past. I think it could be a memory with a broken lover or a breakup with a loving family. Or I guess it could be an emotion felt in nature that changes over time.

I think this poem has a lot of heart vibes with short, concise, and implicit poetry.

The uses of sorrow  By Mary Oliver

(In my sleep I dreamed this poem)

Someone I loved once gave me
a box full of darkness.

It took me years to understand
that this, too, was a gift.

Mary Jane Oliver is an American great poet and novelist who won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. She was born in 1935 in Maple Heights, Ohio, and died in 2019. She spent most of her time outdoors as a child, walking and reading, and began writing poetry at the age of 14.

I've found a poem that would go well with this poem. Take a look.

The reason why I chose this picture is because of the expression a box full of darkness. I didn't think that the box that comes out here is necessarily a rectangular box, but a round circle.

As you can see in the following original, the picture was taken so that the apricot flowers were placed among the green leaves. This is the result of photographing with a distinction from other apricot pictures.

The author writes that she wrote this poem in her dream. I chose this picture to show images that appear faint in her dream. It doesn't feel like it's a perfect match, but I tried my best. 🧐😅

Now, I'm going to show you a picture of me transcribing this poem with a gel pen. This pen is a black gel pen called Zebra's Sarasa Clip.

Thank you for reading my article. 🙏

What is Bam Yang Gang(밤양갱)?

These days, a song called BIBI's Bam Yang Gang(밤양갱) is very popular in Korea.

Chestnuts are chestnut fruits, which are said to ripen into a dark brown color with a diameter of 2.5 to 4 cm. Yanggang is known as one of the first types of jelly made in Japan. It is usually made with red beans as the main ingredient or chestnuts. It is said that they make Yanggang by boiling agar powder, water, sugar, and starch syrup and then cooling it down.

Then, let's take a look at the Bam Yanggang products that are selling well in Korea.

It's stacked with paper boxes, and inside it's a gold-colored coated paper wrapped around the yokan. This paper cover is torn by hand to take out the Yanggang, but it doesn't cut very neatly. Recently, this chestnut red bean paste product is selling very well. It is easy to get at convenience stores in Korea. Also, it is more delicious and chewy if you put it in the refrigerator and eat it cold.

This time, I'm going to peel this jelly. Originally, I tear this wrapping paper with my hands, but this time I'll cut it with a bread-cutting knife.

If you look at the contents of this jelly, it looks like a dark brown jelly as shown in the picture below.

The taste is not very sweet, and it has a slight scent of red beans and chestnuts. It is high in calories and does not stick to or stick to teeth like chocolates and candies, so it is gaining popularity as a unique snack for people who exercise for a long time.

In fact, the reason why this snack is so popular in Korea is because the song with the same title is so popular.

Link to the music video of Bam Yanggang, a song with the same title as this jelly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smdmEhkIRVc

The atmosphere of this song is bright and clear, but the lyrics show the change of emotions before and after the breakup, so unlike the cheerful melody, it represents the pain of separation and wants sweet jelly to overcome it.

Алексей Никола́евич Плещеев(Aleksey Nikolayevich Pleshcheyev)
This writer was a Russian poet, translator and writer, who served in the military and rebelled against the Russian government in writing while serving as editor of magazines and newspapers.
Born in 1825 in Kostroma, the Russian Empire, he died in Paris, France in 1893.
The writer translated many literatures into English and French and is famous for his children's poetry. The poet's poems are said to have influenced the music of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

This poem is said to be a concise and good expression of the atmosphere of spring.

Травка зеленеет,
Солнышко блестит;
Ласточка с весною
В сени к нам летит.
С нею солнце краше
И весна милей…
Прощебечь с дороги
Нам привет скорей!
Дам тебе я зерен,
А ты песню спой,
Что из стран далеких
Принесла с собой…

Maybe it's because it's been a while since I used Russian, but my handwriting is a mess. 😥😅

Then, I chose a picture where you can feel the lively energy of spring.

It didn't really rain on this day, but I edited it with the Experiment09 method to give it a spring rain feeling.

This photo was taken on March 23, 2024, on a very warm spring day. There were so many bees flying, perhaps because the apricot flowers were blooming late.

Now let's take a look at the original picture.

Thank you so much for watching my pictures and writings. 🙏

János Pilinszky was a poet who was born in 1921 in Butafest, Hungary, and died in 1981. He is said to have experienced World War II in the military, witnessed the Ravensbruck concentration camp, and was greatly influenced by it.

Knocking   /   János Pilinszky

We slept. In my dreams I was a tree,
then nothing, then such a child
as knocks on a grown up’s door.

Meanwhile you too were a tree. A child’s skirt.
Not a door. Knocking. Knock.
Together we knocked. I no longer know
whether on the same door? This much is certain:
a cherub’s thrashing-about would be like this.

-> Translated from Hungarian by Peter Jay

Kopogtatás (Hungarian)

Aludtunk. Álmomban fa voltam,
majd semmi, majd egy olyan kisgyerek,
ki kopogtat egy felnőtt ajtaján.

Közben te is fa voltál. Gyerekszoknya.
Nem ajtó. Kopogtatás. Kopogás.
Együtt kopogtunk. Azt már nem tudom,
hogy ugyanazon ajtón? Ami biztos:
ilyen lehet egy kerub verdesése.

The above is the original Hungarian text of this poem. I don't know how it sounds and reads, but I'm guessing it's a very beautiful sound.

The poem introduced in this article is by William Blake.

William Blake did not publish the poem as a collection of poems. It wasn't until long after his death that a painter and poet named Rosetti published it in 1863.

Originally, the poet did not have a title in this poem, so the first line was used as a title, or later a title randomly added to the collection of poems.

Love's Secret  [Never seek to tell thy love]  By William Blake

Never seek to tell thy love,

Love that never told can be;

For the gentle wind doth move

Silently, invisibly.

I told my love, I told my love,

I told her all my heart,

Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears.

Ah! she did depart!

Soon after she was gone from me,

A traveller came by,

Silently, invisibly:

He took her with a sigh.

This photo was taken on Mar. 16, 2024. The apricot flowers bloomed late this year, but they were in very good condition on this day.
I rode my bike to Jangja Lake Park in Guri, Gyeonggi-do, and met some beautiful plum blossoms. And I took this picture with a manual lens.

[Time Is] is one of Henry van Dyke's best known poems. It was first published in the 1904 collection, and was better known as a reading at the funeral of Diana in 1997.

This poem is very concise and leaves a lot of lingering impression. In other versions of the poem, 'not' is also written as 'eternity'.

After reading this poem, I chose a picture.

I think it's a poem that sensibly expresses the relative and subjective nature of time. I think it's going to be too hard to find a picture that feels like a perfect match for this poem, but I still chose this one.

Now this is a manuscript of it.

I transcribed this poem with a Waterman fountain pen.

Time Is   By Henry van Dyke

Time is

Too Slow for those who Wait,

Too Swift for those who Fear,

Too Long for those who Grieve,

Too Short for those who Rejoice;

But for those who Love,

Time is not.

Then I'll show you the original version of this picture.

I also took this picture on March 16, the same day I posted it on my blog here before. It was a pretty bright sun-lit plum blossom, but I used spot photometry to take a dark picture of the surroundings.

For the next picture, I will post pictures and poems with a more different atmosphere. 🤗

This is the poem [Heart, we will forget him] I transcribed this time. I think this poem by Emily Dickinson is a beautiful expression of the heart that struggles to forget love. I think the object of love can be an old lover or an object of nature.

Heart, we will forget him

By Emily Dickinson

Heart, we will forget him

You and I, tonight.

You may forget the warmth he gave,

I will forget the light.

When you have done, pray tell me,

That I my thoughts may dim;

Haste! lest while you're lagging,

I may remember him!

Emily Dickinson is a hidden poet, who was lonely and wrote many poems, but whose true value was not known until later. Born in 1830, she lived until 1886, and is known to have published only a few poems while she was alive.

I chose a picture that matches this poem and edited it in the way Experiment04.

Heart, we will forget him

I tried to emphasize my longing by making the darkness a little thicker in the direction this plum flower is looking at. And here, I tried to emphasize the disconnection, which is the mind to forget, by ripping up the picture.

Now, I'll show you the original photo.

The background in that picture is an apartment window. It is also the warmest and quietest place in the neighborhood where apricot flowers bloom first. 🌺

Congratulations! You won an Honorable Mention in TIFA 2023 Photo Competition!

I received an e-mail under the above title on January 6, 2024.

The picture that I won HM here in the contest is the color version of the picture that won HM in AnalystSparks 2023.

I mentioned this picture in my previous blog post. So let's look at the color version picture.

It's my first time applying for
TIFA 2023 Photo Competition. It's the same photo, but I'm honored to be able to receive the award by registering with a different edit.

TOKYO INTERNATIONAL FOTO AWARDS is an international photography competition based in Tokyo, Japan. It has held a photography competition since 2016 and has been holding an annual exhibition of award-winning works.

It's aimed at photographers all over the world, but I already have bifa or mifa, so I'm guessing it's a photo contest that focuses more on Asian photographs.

Next, let's take a look at the certificate in this picture.

Leave a link to the winners page.

TIFA 2024 is currently open, and if you apply by April 30th, a 10% discount will be applied, so please apply.

Experiment02 - Crumple paper

Today, I'm going to post a picture of my work done in the experiment02. I take several pictures first, then edit them in my experiment. Then I read a good poem and write this poem myself with a pen. After I finish writing the poem, I pick a picture that matches this poem and post it on my SNS.

Let's take a look at the original picture first.

I edited this picture in the experiment 02 method.

This photo was taken on Oct. 29, 2023, at Guri Hangang Civic Park in South Korea. It was a warm fall day, not cold yet. The intensity of the sunlight was just right for taking pictures.

Today's poem I transcribed is Splendour in the grass. This poem is part of the Ode: Intimations of Mortality from collections of early children, published by William Wordsworth in 1807.

Splendour in the grass

(from Stanza 10 / Ode: Intimations of immortality from recollections of early childhood)

By William Wordsworth

What though the radiance which was once so bright

Be now for ever taken from my sight,

Though nothing can bring back the hour

Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;

We will grieve not, rather find

Strength in what remains behind;

In the primal sympathy

Which having been must ever be;

In the soothing thoughts that spring

Out of human suffering;

In the faith that looks through death,

In years that bring the philosophic mind.

From now on, I will transcribe good poems and sometimes post posts linking my photography work. 😊

I won an HM at Budapest International Foto Awards 2023  in Nature-Flowers (Non-Professional) BIFA2023 / The Flower Of The Universe 02

You might think it's the same as what I wrote a few days ago, but I got 2 HMs in the same photo contest. 😅

So this time, I will show you the certificate first.

This time, I applied under the title [The Flower Of The Universe 02] and won a HM. I'll show you two pictures on WINNER's page.

Now, I'll show you the original picture.

https://budapestfotoawards.com/winners/hm/2023/93-27973-23/

If you look at this picture, the colors look like a mixture of purple and pink. The original color of the flower was not like this, but when I printed it out on a broken printer, the blue ink line broke and it didn't come out, so the color turned out wrong. I felt good because the color seemed to be printed more beautifully.

The reason why I named this photo like [The Flower Of The Universe 02] is because the flowers look like they are receiving the energy of the universe by opening their leaves. And in fact, [The Flower Of The Universe 01] is a black and white edited photo.

I edited this photo according to the way I work with experiment 21. Please refer to my blog post for a detailed explanation of this.

ABOUT ME

I have been photographing as a hobby and I am active in Guri,Korea. For my own expression method, I take various flower photos and use a scanner to work on photography. So a small flower in the soil became a pleasant secret in my heart.
